About Us

L–R: Ian Purdy, Head of Direct Property and Infrastructure, ACC Investments; Tim Carter, Carter Group; Christchurch Mayor Phil Mauger; Justin Tipa, Kaiwhakahaere, Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu; and Philip Carter, Carter Group.

Ahumahi Property is an industrial property development and investment company owned equally by Ngāi Tahu Property, ACC Investments and Carter Group.

The three shareholders bring together investment backing and the industrial development experience of Ngāi Tahu Property and Carter Group. This gives Ahumahi Property the backing and experience to take on large industrial developments over the long term.

The company is initially developing approximately 200 hectares across three Greater Christchurch locations: Pound Road in Hornby, Ryans Road near Christchurch Airport and Two Chain Road in Rolleston. Together, the sites have a projected value of approximately $700 million as developed vacant industrial lots.

Over time, Ahumahi Property plans to grow its South Island portfolio, aiming to build an industrial property fund with an estimated completed value of approximately $1.5 billion.

The developments respond to demand for industrial land and modern facilities across Greater Christchurch, particularly for large, serviced and well-located sites.

ACC Investments is the investment management division of New Zealand’s Accident Compensation Corporation.
It is one of New Zealand’s largest fund managers, with $50.8 billion in assets across public and private markets as at 30 June 2025.

The fund helps meet the future costs of accidents that have already occurred, reducing the risk that future levy payers will have to pay for past injuries. Ahumahi Property is ACC Investments’ largest direct investment in the South Island to date.
